Paul preached the gospel of grace. How, then, are we to account for all the other so-called gospels in the Bible? What about the gospel of the kingdom, the gospel of Christ, the gospel of peace, the eternal gospel, etc?

The gospel of grace is the gospel

In truth, there is only one gospel in the Bible and that is the gospel that Jesus lived and prophesied and that Paul preached, namely, the gospel of grace. This gospel is built, not on a doctrine, but on Jesus Christ himself:

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth … From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (Jn 1:14, 16-17)

We pervert the gospel by adding to it things like human effort, traditions, rules, and regulations. These things may have the appearance of wisdom, Paul said, but they lack value. Indeed they are dangerous for in embracing them we risk setting aside grace.

Before Jesus, the Jews had already been trying to impress God with their religion for hundreds of years. If Jesus had said the gospel was everything we do for God, that would not have been news. Neither is it good.

The news is that God was about to reveal His love and grace to the whole world. This was good news for the Jew because Jesus went to the cross fulfilling the law on their behalf. This was good news for the Gentile because those who had been formerly excluded were now invited into the kingdom.

Truly, the gospel is good news for the whole world!

You are not simply “a sinner, saved by grace.” Either you are a sinner OR you’ve been saved by grace. If you’re a sinner, change your mind and believe the good news – God loves you!

If you have received the grace of God, then stop acting blind. See yourself as your Father sees you. You are a brand new creation!

The good news is not that you get a chance to jump through hoops and perform for Jesus. [...]]]> The gospel in one word is Jesus. Jesus came, full of grace and truth, to die for the  unworthy. This is good news! If you were worthy, He would not have died for you.

God is love

“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Rms 5:8)

The love of God is unconditional. It gives and asks nothing in return. God offers you the gift of His righteousness.

The grace of God

The grace of God has appeared to all men and His name is Jesus. If He was speaking to you right now, He might say: “If anyone opens the door I will come in and dine with him and he with me.” Do you realize Who is knocking on your door? It’s the King of kings! The most beautiful, loving, gracious and mighty person in the universe knows you by name and He’s come to win you with His love. Don’t be distracted by your unworthiness, but be amazed by His grace and respond. The Creator of heaven and earth waits to see what you will do with Him. Will you ignore Him or will you say, “Lord, come in!”

The love of God

The love of God bears all things, keeps no record of wrong, and endures to the end. You can take Love personified, nail Him to a cross and He’ll come back from the dead just to tell you that He’s forgiven you and loves you and wants to be with you forever! Think He can’t love you because of all you’ve done? Think again. God loves you unconditionally, no strings attached.
